Apple And Caramel Bars

Ingredients (for about 24 bars)

For the caramel

  • ½ cup of cream (50 ml).
  • 1 cup of sugar (100 g).
  • 1 teaspoon of salt (5 g).
  • 6 tablespoons of butter (60 g).

For the apple filling

  • 4 apples.
  • ½ cup of flour (50 g).
  • 1 teaspoon of cornstarch (5 g).
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar (30 g).
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon (5 g).
  • 1 teaspoon of allspice (5 g).
  • A pinch of ground nutmeg.

For the base

  • 1 teaspoon of salt (5 g).
  • 2 cups of flour (250 g).
  • 1 and a half cups of oatmeal (150 g).
  • 1 cup of brown sugar (100 g).
  • ¾ cup of butter (60 g).
  • ½ teaspoon of baking soda (2.5 g).

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 200 ° C.
  • Line a mold with aluminum foil (leave a little on the sides so that it is easier to disassemble everything later) and spread it with butter.
  • Prepare the caramel. In a saucepan, place the sugar and bring to the fire until it begins to melt, stir so that it turns a golden color.
  • Add the butter at room temperature and beat vigorously.
  • Turn off the heat and add the cream. Pour into a container and reserve. When it’s warm, you can put it in the fridge.
  • To make the filling: peel and cut the apples into cubes, without the bone, put in a container with the sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and cornstarch. Stir well and reserve.
  • We have the base: in a container put the butter and sugar, mixing well.
  • To the previous mixture, add the flour, salt, baking soda and oats.
  • Stir until the ingredients are combined and you have a uniform dough.
  • Separate the equivalent of two cups of the dough and reserve. Place the rest in the lined and greased mold and press well.
  • Add the apples and the caramel on top. The preparation of the remaining base is added at this time and press so that everything is compacted.
  • Bake 25 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
  • Remove and let cool to room temperature before unmolding.
  • Cut your apple and caramel bars to the size you want.

  • ½ cup of butter (50 g).

  • 2 medium eggs (120 g).
  • 180 grams of cream cheese.
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (5 g).

  • 2 apples.
  • 1 cup of flour (125 g).
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar (10 g).
  • 5 tablespoons of oatmeal (50 g).
  • ½ cup of brown sugar (50 g).
  • 5 tablespoons of butter (50 g).
  • ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon (2.5 g).

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 180 ° C.
  • Make the base first: in a bowl, place the flour, room temperature margarine and brown sugar. Mix using electric stirrers or a fork. Grease a mold and pour the preparation, pressing well to make it compact.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and reserve to temper.
  • To prepare the filling, in a bowl beat the cream cheese with the sugar. Add the eggs one by one while stirring, and finally, the vanilla essence.
  • Pour over the base that you removed from the oven and reserve on the counter.
  • Now it’s time for topping: Peel and dice the apples. Mix with the cinnamon and sugar and spread on the cake that you had reserved.
  • In a bowl, mix the oats, brown sugar, room temperature butter and flour to form the crumble. Pour over the apples.
  • Cook for half an hour or until the filling is firm.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool to room temperature.
  • Cut to your liking.
