Gypsum and beeswax

A not very well known method for repairing wooden objects is the one that is prepared with plaster and beeswax. Both ingredients form a solid paste that allows covering cracks and imperfections.

• 1 tablespoon of plaster (20 g).
• 4 tablespoons of beeswax (80 g).

Preparation

• First, add the beeswax to a heat-resistant container and take it to a water bath.
• When it melts, add the tablespoon of gypsum powder and mix well.
• Finally, let it sit for a few minutes at room temperature, until it begins to solidify.

How to use

• Before the paste hardens, when it is still workable, apply it to the wood with the help of a spatula.
• Immediately remove debris from the surface and let it dry as long as necessary.
• When it is dry and hard, polish it with a cloth or sandpaper.
• If you want to unify it with the rest of the material, paint it with the same or similar color.

Extra trick

Coffee grounds release a stain that can be helpful in giving a patched furniture a better look. If you don’t want to use paint, moisten the coffee with water or oil and rub it on the surface.
